The CMBE scheme is for those who teach, or lead/direct learning and teaching activities, in the fields of business and management.
This includes:
Educators who teach in the broad range of business and management fields including, but not limited to business, management, economics, accounting, finance, and marketing.
Educators delivering business and management education outside of a business school, for example business and management modules within a School of Engineering, are also eligible.
Permanent members of staff and adjunct faculty in business schools in the UK and internationally.
Educators who are teaching higher education level qualifications.
There are three routes into the CMBE. Find out which route is right for you!
Route A: Teaching qualification and experience
This route is right for you if:
You hold a teaching qualification that is accepted by the Chartered ABS, such as the Advance HE Fellowship or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Click here for the full list of accepted qualifications.
You have been educating in a higher education institution for at least 3 out of the last 5 years.
Route B: Extensive experience without teaching qualification
This route is right for you if you do not have a teaching qualification and meet both of the following criteria:
You have been teaching in a higher education institution for more than 5 years.
Your role teaching is equivalent to at least 20% of full-time employment.
Route C: Associate Management & Business Educator
If you don't meet the eligibility for either Route A or Route B you can join the community as an Associate Management & Business Educator.
AMBEs commit to undertake 40 hours of CPD and are entitled to most of the benefits enjoyed by CMBE subscribers. However, the AMBE subscription does not give the subscriber a designation of 'AMBE'. Instead, it is a pathway towards the CMBE.
